I’m Karen Badenhorst, an internationally certified parenting and personal and professional development trainer, and I can help you optimise your practical communication skills.

I am the owner of a private social work practice in Cape Town, where I provide counselling
and psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and parents. My work focuses on strengthening
relationships, improving communication, supporting mental health and emotional wellbeing, and equipping families with practical, evidence-based skills to navigate life's challenges.

I'm also an event speaker; specialising in topics about relationships, employee- wellness,
mental health and leadership.

When the Court Orders a Parenting Course

A judge has told you to complete a parenting course — and if you're in the middle of a divorce or custody dispute, that can feel like one more hurdle in an already difficult season. It doesn't have to be. Many parents who walk into this required course leave with tools they didn't expect to need: better ways to talk to their kids, and better ways to handle conflict without it spiralling.

That's what we focus on here.

What We Offer

We run Parent Effectiveness Training (P.E.T.), an internationally recognised 8-session programme developed by Dr. Thomas Gordon, built around practical communication and conflict-resolution skills for parents. You can read more about the model directly at gordontraining.com.

If a full course isn't what you need right now, we also offer single parenting consultations — a focused, one-off session to work through a specific challenge.

Both options are available online or in person.
